The district consists of the Dyer County Courthouse and 45 contributing buildings in the surrounding area. The district makes up the core of the central business area of Dyersburg and includes retail stores, financial institutions and government offices. Most of the buildings are adaptations of the late Victorian period best exemplified by the rounded arch windows on the second story facades.
